NZTech thanks the Transport and Infrastructure Committee for the opportunity to submit on the proposed Civil Aviation Bill. This submission is in response to sections in respect to regulations and policy changes for remotely piloted or autonomous aircraft, and airport regulation.

NZTech is generally supportive of the Amendment Bill which has come from the Electricity PriceReview and seeks to enhance competition and service to consumers. We support theamendments that enhance an efficient market, increase the consumer voice, improveregulations from the consumer perspective, remove ambiguity, and clarify the Authority’spowers.

The AI Forum is working with the New Zealand Government on establishing an AI Strategy forAotearoa New Zealand within the Digital ITP. AI currently sits within the Mahi Ake (Growth)and should be extracted and sit as a foundation for the Strategy.
