It’s a known fact that access to tech talent in New Zealand is a key issue, and there is now strong anecdotal evidence that the growing tech talent shortage is detrimentally impacting the digitalisation and recovery of other sectors. It is also hampering the growth of the digital exporting companies who are responding by shifting roles out of New Zealand to the talent.
Join NZTech’s CEO Graeme Muller, Paul Matthews CEO of IT Professionals to discuss strategies for addressing these tech talent shortages.
Graeme Muller will share the latest data from the Critical Worker Border Exemption Survey (currently in the market) and Paul Matthews will provide an update on the initiatives being recommended within the skills workstream of the Digital Technology Industry Transformation Plan.

With a background in technology & business research, management consultancy and marketing across multiple sectors and geographies. Able to quickly identify critical issues in complex environments and simplify to lead change and create growth.
Internationally experienced having lead teams and built businesses in New Zealand, Australia, South East Asia, North Asia, Europe, Middle East & Africa.
Paul Matthews – Chief Executive of IT Professionals NZ
The professional body of the tech industry with thousands of members across New Zealand. He is currently chairing the Skills Workstream of the Digital Technologies Industry Transformation Plan and has had a strong focus on skills and education in tech over the last 12 years, including helping drive significant changes to the curriculum in schools, qualifications at the tertiary level and more.
Prior to his current role, he founded several tech companies in Dunedin and holds with a BSc in Computer Science and an Executive MBA.
