Kia ora,
We hope you had a fantastic summer break and a wonderful start to 2024!
Did you know that only 29% of the New Zealand Digital IT workforce comprises females?* Our goal is to increase this number to 40% by 2040, but we can’t do it alone. That’s where you come in!
As we gear up for another busy year at TechWomen, we’re reaching out to you, our valued community, for support in turbocharging our efforts. To achieve this, we’re seeking passionate volunteers and foundation partners to join us on our journey. If you want to volunteer or if your organisation can provide financial support through foundation partnerships or ShadowTech sponsorship, please reach out to us or fill out our expression of interest form.
We’re delighted to have continued support from Deloitte and Westpac as our strategic partners for the year ahead.

Events
Our first event of the year is International Women’s Day – 8 March
International Women’s Day 2024 – Lessons from Pop Culture to #InspireInclusion
From Barbie to Taylor Swift, the world has seen a resurgence of girl power over the last year. For IWD 2024 TechWomen will be looking at recent trends from pop culture and discussing how we can learn from them and continue to inspire inclusion in tech.
Join us for a recap of the biggest trends of 2023 followed by a community discussion about what the tech sector can learn from pop culture. We will be hosting in person events in Auckland and Wellington, as well as an online session for people joining remotely.
ShadowTech
In 2023 over 600 girls in years 9-11 spent the day with 50 businesses across the country, to experience working in tech first hand with the aim to inspire their career pathways into tech.
This year, Shadowtech will be in August, with applications for schools and businesses opening in April.
We hope to bring ShadowTech to more locations, and to do this we need volunteers, and sponsors. So, if you would like to see ShadowTech in your region please fill out our expression of interest form.
A massive thanks to last year’s sponsors and supporters, Deloitte, Westpac, Nui Markets, WellingtonNZ, Verizon Connect, Tuatahi First Fibre, Ministry of Education and TechStep. We are so grateful for your support of our future tech generations.
Here’s a highlight video of Shadowtech 2023 from TechStep.
Mentoring Circles
Connect & Grow: Want to grow your tech network? Join our monthly Mentoring Circles from May to October. We organise small groups of six mentees and two mentors to meet regularly in a supportive setting. We’re making exciting updates based on your feedback and adding a new location in Hamilton. Applications will open in April.
If you are interested in joining our organising committee, fill out our expressions of interest form and we will be in touch.
We look forward to welcoming you to our upcoming events, and bringing you more great initiatives in 2024!
