Kia ora,
Tē tōia, tē haumatia
Nothing can be achieved without a plan, workforce and way of doing things
This week, we’re acknowledging Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2024. Māori culture is at the heart of what makes Aotearoa New Zealand unique. Engaging with the language is a meaningful way to honour our heritage. It also reflects our commitment to building an inclusive and unified society, where diverse voices are valued. Learn more here.
Across the NZTech group, an increasing number of our members have been collaborating on submissions to the Government, reinforcing the critical role of technology in shaping New Zealand’s future and ensuring policy frameworks are fit for purpose. Here are a few recent examples:
- Draft Consumer and Product Data Bill
Our key message? Learn from Australia’s experience and ditch derived data. - 2nd Emissions Reduction Plan
This isn’t a tech-led strategy, but it should be! - Science System Reform
A world class science system underpins our tech success. But the real hurdle? IP commercialisation. - Biometrics Privacy Code Exposure Draft
We already have sufficient laws in place and the proposed code will lead to many unintended consequences.
Opportunities to better inform Government agencies about the importance of tech and our sector are coming in rapid succession. Currently, members are collaborating on the following:
- Future potential for digital technologies to support learning
- Vocational education and training reforms
- Advice on licencing and access to banking for Web3 companies
- The future of eco-nomics: integrating environmental and economic measurement in Aotearoa New Zealand
Our strong unified voice ensures our concerns and insights reach key decision makers, amplifying our collective impact. By uniting our efforts, we help influence policy and drive positive change for New Zealand’s future. Plus, we offer valuable opportunities to connect. Discover all our latest events here.
