Tēnā tātou katoa
It’s been a busy month at AI Forum NZ. Here are some of the exciting things we’ve been working on.
Tomorrow, Today Event Series
On 27 June in Christchurch, we launch a series of societal level discussions clearly focused on the Forum’s purpose: harnessing the power of AI to enable a prosperous, inclusive and equitable future Aotearoa.
We are at a pivotal point in our development where people are starting to understand the ways in which AI will impact how we work, live and play.
The first of these discussions is focused on sustainability and we have Dr Rod Carr, the Climate Change Commissioner joining us. Be part of the discussion in Christchurch on 27 June. Register for the online event here.
We’ll be partnering with the NAOI Institute the second event in the series on 7 July in Auckland.
Focus on Talent
We’ve been doing a lot of work to foster talent in AI this year – The Tomorrow Expo and Techweek TV both had a clear focus on celebrating our AI talent and promoting diversity in our ecosystem. We’ll be running a table focused on attracting talent into AI at Chiasma’s Synapse event at University of Auckland on 10 August. Please contact us if you are interested in participating.
AI for the Environment – Hackathon Festival (7-13 August)
In 2022 we ran our first New Zealand wide AI for Environment Hackathon Having the regional winners pitching at the AI Forum’s Aotearoa AI Summit was a highlight for everyone, so in 2023 we are going even bigger! It’s a fantastic way to try out new skill sets in a safe environment; foster team building and meet new people. If you are interested in hosting or participating please let us know here.
