It’s great to be enjoying so many in person activities again. Across the NZTech Group we run a number of events to provide our members with opportunities to connect, learn, share and advance policy discussions. At this time of the year it begins to get busy but it’s lots of fun to catch up with so many people.
Last week I joined our Cyber Security Summit in Wellington where we discussed the evolving threat landscape and the latest responses. Even as security threats increase, we mustn’t overlook the basics – use strong passwords, multi-factor authentication, apply patches and regularly backup.
Another recent event was our Fintech Hui Taumata, view the highlights here.
This week I’m back in Wellington for the inaugural Life Sciences Summit – biotech for a better tomorrow. From climate change, alternative proteins, precision foods, carbon recycling, gene editing and synthetic biology, this summit covers it all!
How can New Zealand’s life sciences help solve the world’s greatest challenges? LanzaTech’s chief scientific officer Sean Simpson explores a new era of life science growth. The University of Auckland’s Cather Simpson will also discuss the global challenges New Zealand innovators can be at the forefront of solving. We are also joined by the Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall, Professor Dame Juliet Gerrard, and renowned scientist Victoria Metcalf is our MC for the two day summit. I’m also looking forward to meeting Wellington’s Mayor Tory Whanau at the Life Sciences Summit Dinner and Stuart Roberts from Pitt Street Research. View the full programme here.
If you’re flying into Wellington to join the summit, check out Wellington’s delegate welcome signs at the baggage carousel on arrival. Take a selfie and tag #lifesciences2023, we’d love to see you arriving! Physical tickets sold out quickly, but virtual tickets are still available and at discounted prices for members.
