Visit Tech AllianceFinTechNZ – wow, what a year!
Kia ora,
Wow, what a year this has been for our FinTechNZ community!
There has been so much activity with new people, new companies, major partnering success, the rise of the Sustainability and RegTech working groups, reports, the return of events and more.
Yes, there have been impactful macroeconomic and market challenges. However, in my view, this has not been significant for local fintech firms, perhaps because our products are usually built to solve tangible problems and a need to be market ready. Maybe this also reflects our Kiwi personality and more restrained approach? Either way it is a good virtue for us to amplify as we explore and export to the world.
Congratulations to everyone in our community for their continued efforts, endeavours and engagement. Together we are actively contributing to the prosperity of Aotearoa New Zealand through fintech innovation. Our membership is growing every month and we are almost 200 organisations strong! A special welcome to our new members, 402 Systems, EDT International, Green Global Solutions, Green Light Escrow, Hampton Venture Partners, IPromise, Midnight Technologies and Vester.
It’s also a time for reflection and I would particularly like to acknowledge Daniel Karehana. Sadly, last week Daniel passed away and our thoughts are with his whanau. Dan was a highly respected member of our community and the co-founder of Blinkpay.
Help our sector scale-up internationally!
Last week you will have received a brief survey inviting you to have your say on export issues and barriers to market. We have collaborated with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) to survey our community about exported related issues when scaling up and entering new markets. If you haven’t already completed the survey, please take the time to share your views. The survey will generate community led data insights and the results will help support firms to become export ready and grow internationally. The survey closes on 19 December but you can complete it here now.
From insight to impact
This year’s momentum is set to continue with the FinTechNZ Hui Taumata on 28 February in Auckland. From the planning in place it is clear there is great demand and support for our event. Special thanks to our diamond sponsor Visa, our esteemed speakers and the awesome fintechs ready to share their smarts with a fast-growing list of attendees. From concept to scale, we have an excellent agenda planned for the day. Plus, join us for breakfast and get pitched by five innovative startups. Don’t miss out on securing your special members only rate and 2-for-1 ticket offer.
Like many of you, I’m looking forward to the summer holidays and spending time with whanau and friends. However you spend the time, relax, enjoy and I’ll see you on the other side!
