Kia Ora,
Techweek2021 is here, so I’ll keep this update short and sweet!
Today, I’m joining the Tech21 Summit at the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau where nearly 1500 students and 200 teachers are set to be inspired by tech entrepreneurs and innovators.
We have partnered with the Ministry of Education to help host Tech21 and the aim is simple – to spark inspiration for students in years 7–10. We are showcasing tech innovation and creativity, plus the opportunity for Technology Learning career pathways. We know tech careers involve more than just coding and there is a tech job to suit everyone!
There’s an impressive speaker line up including digital disruptor Amber Taylor, Weta Digital’s Anne Taunga, ARA Journey’s James Brooks, KidsCoin co-founder Brittany Teei, animation innovator Sir Ian Taylor, Raranga Matihiko’s Tara Fagan and GirlBoss founder, Alexia Hilbertidou. There’s also a special performance by Kings! Students will also be able to explore the Imagine Zone where they can touch, feel, see and imagine a future in tech. Yes, there will be robots, rockets, special effects and more!
I’m also looking forward to celebrating our tech sector on Friday at the Hi-Tech Awards. Techweek is always a highlight in our annual events calendar, so be sure to connect, discover, explore and learn more. With over 300 events throughout New Zealand there is something for everyone at Techweek2021!
Get out there and have a great week.
Ngā mihi
