Artificial intelligence (AI) Bitcoin, cybersecurity, leadership strategy and hi-tech exports are themes at this year’s Canterbury Tech Summit on 14 September in Christchurch.
In a recent Idealog interview Summit chair David Carter said technologies like AI are becoming part of everyday life as it becomes more affordable and accessible. Artificial intelligence will radically transform professional service industries like accountants and lawyers, he said. Entire industries will change, so people will need to work out how to stay relevant, he adds.
Taking centre stage at the Summit, AI focussed sessions include a morning workshop with Professor Geoff Holmes of Waikato University and visiting European speakers Erich Prem and Sebastian Kielmann.
AI will also be explored in depth during a panel discussion moderated by the AI Forum’s Ben Reid. Discussion will focus on opportunities for New Zealand businesses, practical steps businesses need to take to learn, leverage and deploy AI technology. The panel will also share insights on future developments anticipated in the near to midterm. Panellists include international keynote speaker Erich Prem and Xero’s Kathryn Hempstalk.
The Canterbury Tech Summit is the South Island’s largest annual tech conference bringing together 650 leaders in innovation, technology and business to share ideas, grow their networks and be inspired.
